Bizarro is brought to you today by Strange Olympics.

There is much fun to be had in this comic featuring a twist on the age-old comedy motif of the kid whose dog ate his homework. Aside from the deep, theological concepts within the dialogue, there are plenty of background jokes and six secret symbols to search for. Embiggenate it for a more complete experience.

Pharmaceutical companies have known how to prevent bad juju for decades, but there is so much money in mojo treatment that they’ve buried the cure. Sometimes capitalism sucks.

If you don’t know the song this cartoon refers to, you likely have no idea what this is about. If you do know it, though, it’s a real kick in the pants. Here it is but be warned: it’s a pretty insidious earworm. (more…)

I’m in my mid-fifties and have been thinking about social media lately. I’ve gone through stages where I didn’t understand it, then I got into it, then I thought it was necessary for my business and getting the most out of life, and now I’m thinking it has nothing to do with my happiness and is likely a detriment to it. Life happens in a much more profound and satisfying way in person and it is actually true that the best things in life are free. I still use it to a small degree, of course, in ways that it facilitates me, but I’ll never be a Twitter Star. I don’t take as many selfies as younger folks, either. I know that selfies are not literally “social media” but they figure in. (more…)

I’ve been arrested and interrogated by the fuzz too many times to count, but never in a clown suit. If any of you readers are cops who have arrested and/or interrogated a clown, please share your story in the comments section. For some reason, it fascinates me. Possibly because I have always been naturally suspicious of anyone in a clown outfit. I wouldn’t say I am “afraid” of them, but I don’t trust them and will avoid them if possible. It’s the same as I treat panhandlers or obvious prostitutes; I just don’t have any interest in contact with them. (more…)

How would you like to enjoy a little light comedy with me? Okay, follow me.

Our first entry is from Dan Piraro of Los Angeles, in collaboration with successful TV comedy writer, Andy Cowan (Seinfeld, Cheers, Third Rock from the Sun, etc.)  Dan’s and Andy’s funny idea was if the murderous character from Alfred Hitchcock’s iconic “Psycho” were applying for a job to run the Bates Motel. Watch out for that shower, mister! (more…)

I’ve already gotten a few questions about this cartoon so I’ll ‘splain it. Clowns are famous for emerging in large numbers out of very tiny cars. So a clown Noah…

If you still don’t get it, blame my known associate, Wayno of Pittsburgh, with whom I collaborated on this cartoon. Among the many wonderful things that Wayno and I share is a repulsion for actual clowns and an affinity for clown cartoons. He does his own ‘splainin’ about this here cartoon here.   Of the points he makes therein, my favorite is that an ark this size is just as likely to carry two of every species on earth as one of the size prescribed in the Bible. I smiled broadly. (more…)

Clowns are another favorite and recurring theme for me as a cartoonist, even though I kind of hate them in real life. Even as a child I didn’t trust them. To me, it was a human in a disguise acting weird and trying to get me to like them. I couldn’t see the difference between them and other strangers with candy that my parents had warned me about. I’m still very uncomfortable around clowns and prefer to move away from them. (more…)

I know a guy somewhere in Texas named Brian Levy. He’s always suggesting scenarios from which a cartoon might be born. I like his suggestions because he doesn’t usually submit an punch line, but rather a concept that gets my brain bubbling. In this case, he suggested something like, “what if rock, paper, and scissors signed a peace treaty?” I love the result. (If you don’t understand this joke, you’ve never played “rock, paper, scissors.” If you’re in a country where people don’t play this, look it up on the Intertubes. If you’re in the U.S. and still don’t know this game, abandon your cave, return to civilization and ask the first person you see to explain it.) (more…)
