Mirror Viewers

Have ever felt you were being watched? When I was a little kid, I had this ongoing fantasy for years that I was the only real human and I was created by an alien civilization that was watching me through mirrors. The entire earth and all of its other inhabitants were androids put here as an experiment to see how I would react. I never really believed it, but anytime I walked past a mirror, I would look into it and wink, not at myself, but at the aliens watching me. Just in case I was right, I wanted them to know I had figured it out. (more…)

I admit I’ve never seen any of the “Survivor” TV shows. I’m not a big fan of that sort of reality game-show stuff, but I get the gist. It was therefore simple (and a LOT of fun) to imagine one in which my favorite celebrities to despise are left on an island to fight it out amongst them selves and never be heard from again. Simon Cowell is one I missed. Can’t stand that guy. I didn’t want to mess with caricatures, but if you click on the image and blow it up, you should be able to spot Paris, Bruce Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Richard Simmons, Donald Trump, and Snooki. The others are just cast members of Jersey Shore or lesser Kardashians. (more…)

Since he works with graphics, is a master of keyboard shortcuts, and wears nothing but a tanktop-T and boxer shorts, he felt a special kinship to this cartoon. I love that no matter how randomly I choose a name for a cartoon, I often hear from readers of the same name in similar circumstances. Sometimes it has been uncannily similar. If I could remember a couple of instances, it would have made this paragraph worth reading. (more…)

I’m going to step into the realm of immodesty and say I’m pretty proud of this cartoon. I like psychiatry cartoons and do a lot of them, but the thing I think is special about this one is the characters. I think I really nailed the look, posture, and facial expressions of each of these guys. The shrink looks as though he is holding back a combination of fear and incredulity as he struggles to remain professional. The patient looks average and harmless, except for the tenseness of his arms and hands as he clutches the axe. The stoic, far-off gaze adds to the sense of instability. I sometimes criticize myself for drawing too realistically, but in this case, the style works well. (more…)
