Bizarro is brought to you today by Seats Are Cheaper On The Wing.

There have been a few “Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe” cartoons over the span of my 87 year career as a cartoonist and this is arguably one of them. Here is another one that is built on the same premise¬†but leaves less to the imagination.

Drawing bookstores and libraries is a chore. So are lawyers offices. Anywhere with tons of books on shelves is a huge pain in the donkey. But I persist in my tireless toiling to bring you the finest humor I can because I care about your day. (Oh, look, there’s a Tip Jar in the right margin of this blog!) The nice thing about it is, however, that it gives me plenty of places to hide “secret symbols.” Between the panel and strip version of Monday’s cartoon, there are 11. Happy hunting! (more…)

Still, the 15th isn’t so bad and the constitution wasn’t signed on the 4th anyway (that was the Declaration of Independence), so who cares? (more…)

An important film in 1967 was The Graduate. If you did not know this, find out about it; there’s a hole in your education. After you’ve found out about it, find out about Mrs. Butterworth’s syrup, then read this cartoon. When all of that prerequisite knowledge is in place, I believe you will find that this cartoon will change the shape of your mouth in a positive way. (Another thing that might have the same effect is the fact that someone did this to their child. (more…)

Most readers were hep to my jive this Sunday but if you were confused by this cartoon, simply visit the stores from left to right: get drunk, buy a gun, rob a jewelry store, need a bail bondsman. The signage on the roof is an homage to the cartoonist who most influenced my work in my youth, B. Kliban. If you don’t know his work, find a copy of this book. You’ll thank me. (more…)
