Pi Plex
I’m Dan Piraro, the creator of the Bizarro newspaper comic. Each week, I post my Sunday Bizarro comic, then a short essay, then the past week’s Monday-Saturday Bizarro comics written and drawn by my partner, Wayno. He does a weekly blog post, too, and I highly recommend it.

Good day to you, Jazz Pickle. Thanks for stopping by. I hope you find amusement.
I’ll be your tour guide today as we stumble through this week’s cartoons. There are a couple of points of interest about the movie theater cartoon above, chief of which are the movie posters on the wall. They’re pretty hard to see here so I’ve created this weird montage closeup for you.
I put a little extra work into making them fun and had fun doing it. Also, be sure not to miss the π symbol on the movie marque. That means they have approximately 3.14159 screens.
There are reportedly twelve Secret Symbols in today’s cartoon if that tiny number above my signature is to be believed. Most of the time it is correct but I’ve miscounted numerous times only to be corrected by the eagle-eyed Jazz Pickles who keep score. My lack of alacrity in math is more than made up for by my lack of alacrity in word definitions. (I’m getting the feeling that alacrity doesn’t mean what I thought it did.)
So, twelve Secret Symbols today, and that is one less than the total number of Bizarro Secret Symbols in the entire universe; can you determine which one is missing? (Don’t bother to tell me in the comments, I already know. This is for your self-esteem only.)
Last but not least is the vintage Vespa scooter parked in front of the theater. It is modeled after the one I had from 1981 to 2011. I loved it and rode it for years in Dallas and New York City but eventually switched to larger motorcycles and then sold it before moving to California.
Here I am on my old Vespa in 2006 in NYC with my pal, Jessica on the back. I knew better than to ride dressed like that so we must have just been posing for a picture here. I’m still in touch with Jessica but I’ve lost touch with the bike. For the first time in forty years, I don’t currently have any bike at all now because I sold my big road bike recently. I’m not doing long rides anymore; I figure I got away with it long enough. I’ll likely get something small for around town soon, though. This is by far the safest town to ride a bike in that I’ve ever lived. (Oops. Should I not have written that?)
Time now to scoot over to the cartoon corral and see what hijinks Wayno got up to in his Bizarro cartoons for the week!
I envy elephants their prehensile nose, don’t you?
He may be an irresponsible boob but at least he’s hoppy.
I can’t live without my essential oils, but I guess that goes without saying, them being essential and all.
Don’t kid yourself, kid, it’s not safe to text either.
I love this gag and I love what Wayno has to say about it in his blog post this week. This edition has got a few extras you might enjoy and two clips of some fun music of very different styles from very different eras and countries.
P.S. Don’t miss the logo on the to-go food container in the cartoon above.
I’d have more sympathy for him if he was wearing a necktie and a hat like Yogi Bear.
Well, Jazz pickles, that blows the lid off our cartoon steamer for the week. Thanks for hanging around long enough to help us clean the jokes off the ceiling. If you’re enjoying our groove, please consider thanking us for the ad-free experience via one of the links below. We will thank you by name, under our breath, over and over until the people around us become frightened for our mental health.
Until next week, remember that objects in mirror are less three-dimensional than they appear.
